How To: Allow Officers to Use the Gallery on Their Phones

The gallery option allows security officers to upload images that are already saved on their mobile devices instead of only using the camera in real time.

This feature can be helpful when an officer is completing a report after an incident has already occurred, or after finishing a patrol, and needs to attach photos taken earlier. In these situations, gallery access gives officers more flexibility and helps them complete accurate reports even when they are not entering information in real time.

At the same time, some security companies may choose not to enable this feature. The main concern is that officers could reuse old photos that are already stored on their phones instead of attaching images from the current incident or patrol. If your company wants to make sure all images are captured live at the time of reporting, you may prefer to leave this setting off.

When You Should Turn It On

Enable the Gallery option when:

Officers often complete reports after the event rather than during it
Officers may take photos during a patrol and upload them later
Your team needs more flexibility in how incident photos are added to reports

When You May Not Want to Turn It On

You may want to leave the Gallery option off when:

You want photos attached to reports to be taken only in real time
You are concerned officers may reuse older saved images
Your reporting process requires tighter control over photo capture at the time of the event

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Log in to OfficerApps

2. Open the Setup menu

From the left navigation menu, click Setup.

3. Go to Account

Under Setup, click Account.

4. Open Company Info

In the Account section, click Company Info.

5. Select the Gallery tab

Across the top of the Company Info page, click the Gallery tab.

6. Turn on the Gallery setting

Find the setting labeled Allow Gallery on Mobile Application.

Click the toggle so it is turned on.

7. Save your changes

Click Save Changes to apply the update.

Result

Once this setting is enabled, security officers using the mobile application will be able to select photos from their device gallery when completing reports.
